Curator Team Members

WU Di is a PhD Candidate at the History, Anthropology, and Science, Technology, and Society (HASTS) program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and an Individual Consultant of the United Nations Partnership on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNPRPD) in China. Prior to PhD, she managed the disability portfolio at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in China, and co-founded Easy Inclusion, a disability inclusion social enterprise in China.  Her research focuses on the interplay between disability, labor, and technology.

WANG Shuchang is a master student major in the History of Science and Technology at Tsinghua University, with a bachelor degree in Sociology from Sun Yat-sen University. She has previously interned at Beijing Tongzhou Le-Yi-Rong Social Work Organisation (Beijing Enabled Sisters Center). Her master's thesis research focuses on the intersectionality of disability, technoscience and gender.

CHEN Xueyang is a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of History of Science, Tsinghua University. She received Doctor of Science from Peking University. Her research focuses on philosophy of medicine and intellectual history of medicine, especially in body narrative and medical criticism.

LIN Zihao is a PhD candidate in the Department of Comparative Human Development at the University of Chicago. He is a young editorial board member of "Journal of Intelligent Society" and an editor of the Chinese anthropological platform "TyingKnots". He has previously published articles in journals such as "Journalism and Communication", "Disability & Society", "the Paper.cn", and "Xinrui Weekly". His research interests include deaf culture and accessible city construction.

WAN Jingyi is a senior student at the Affiliated Experimental High School of Beijing Normal University. She is inclined towards majors in arts and human rights. She has provided explanations and volunteered at various contemporary art centers for people with disabilities. Additionally, she has written and proofread movie descriptions for individuals with hearing disabilities.

WANG (Jocelyn) Jing is a curator at the Tsinghua University Science Museum. She holds a Master of Human Rights from the Law School of Peking University and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at Lund University, and a M.A. in East Asian Studies from Leiden University. She has 17 years of experience in social work and community services in China, Japan, Canada, and Europe.

Academic Advisors

CAI Cong is a person with a visual disability. He is a board member of the Shanghai Youren Foundation and a partner at the One Plus One (Yijiayi, OPO) Disability Group. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Communication at the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, he is dedicated to enhancing public awareness of disability inclusion. His focus areas include research on disability culture, digital inclusivity, and equality, as well as communication and social development.

ZHENG Xuan is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Faculty of Education, Beijing Normal University, and a member of the National Sign Language and Braille Research Center. In 2009, she received a doctoral degree on linguistics as the first deaf person in China. She is proficient in Chinese, English, Chinese Sign Language, and American Sign Language. Her research interests include deaf education, sign language linguistics and psychotherapy for people with disabilities.

WANG Chao (PhD, UChicago) is currently teaching at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen). His research interest lies in the social history of disability and the welfare state in twentieth-century China, with a focus on the blind and visually impaired people and their communities. In May 2022, he launched the first Global Accesibility Awareness Day together with the Institute for Accessibility Development in Tsinghua University and promoted the theme of "technology-enabling accessibility" for college students and disabled communities across China.

JIAO Yang is an assistant professor (research track) at the Future Laboratory, Tsinghua University, leading research project ‘Computers for the Blind.’ His main research areas include human-computer interaction design, tactile cognition, and interaction design, as well as VR audiovisual language and experience design.

Accessibility Advisor:

ZHAO Chao is a person with a visual disability. He is an accessibility expert developer and serves as One Plus One Career Information Accessibility Specialist. He has been engaged in information accessibility for many years, and he continues to provide accessibility consultation for major tech companies in China.
